Welcome to Camp Tanzania! Starting in the breathtaking foothills of Kilimanjaro the main camp is located near Moshi. This trip provides students with firsthand experience of Tanzanian culture through participation in our award-winning projects within local communities.

The team also visit our mountain camp where they will participate in environmental workshops and learn about local conservation and community school development. We head off on an exciting game drive in Arusha National Park before returning to Moshi for a final farewell party. This unique activity promotes team building as well as facilitating many positive educational learning experiences.

day to day

day 01

Arrive Kilimanjaro & Transfer to Moshi

Kilimanjaro Airport is located less than an hours drive from the town of Moshi and Camp Mbokomu. The team will be settled into their tented camp and provided with a safety brief and an orientation of the area upon arrival. The rest of the day is left for students to settle in and enjoy the view of spectacular Kilimanjaro.

day 02

School Project Orientation & Mbokomu Village Trip

Following breakfast, students walk a short distance to Mbokomu School where the team is given a briefing on daily school life and an overview of the ongoing projects. This is an opportunity to play some sports with the local children and make friends. A tour of the village follows lunch with demonstrations on local traditions.

day 03-05

Community Projects & Tree Planting

The team should prepare to get dirty as you are divided into small groups to undertake important projects around the school. Project work includes desk making, painting, tree planting at our indigenous nursery, improving the school infrastructure with classroom construction. These are very rewarding days spent working alongside Tanzanians,whilst also picking up some useful phrases in Swahili.

day 06

Kidia Village Cultural Trip

This is a fascinating day as the team is driven to the Kwamambori Waterfalls for a morning walk through the valley and to the falls, which are rooted in local mythology (however, this activity is weather dependant since it’s very slippery when it rains). After a picnic lunch we visit Kidia village where we learn to cook traditional foods with a local women’s group and are guided through a typical rural Tanzanian village before enjoying a BBQ al fresco in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro and heading back to camp.

day 07

Safari to Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park is located less than 2 hours drive away and the team departs early from camp following the saddle of Kilimanjaro to Mount Meru. Arusha National Park is one of the most beautiful National Parks in Africa and is home to abundant wildlife including leopard and hyena. This is an exciting day dedicated to game drives and ends with a transfer back to Moshi.

Transfer to Airport & Depart

Departure timings will vary. Late departures will allow for a short shopping trip in Arusha.
