Based in a unique location in Uganda “The Pearl of Africa”, this trip takes in vital community activities and conservation initiatives. Camp Uganda work in partnership with Kirundi Primary School. This provides students with the opportunity to take part in worthwhile community projects before travelling by boat to Ngamba Island, 23km into Lake Victoria, to visit a chimpanzee sanctuary and learn about primate conservation.

The itinerary encourages students to take on new challenges and provides a unique, educational experience.

day to day

day 01

Arrive Entebbe & Transfer to Camp Hairy Lemon

Arrive into Entebbe and transfer to Hairy Lemon Island which takes approximately 4 hrs. Upon arrival, settle into camp and receive a safety and orientation briefing.

day 02

Project Work

After breakfast, the group will head to Kirundi Primary School by crossing the Nile River by canoe. The team will be given a briefing of daily school life and overview of ongoing projects. Work could include building a kitchen or classroom, tree planting, plastering and/or painting.

day 03 - 05

Community Project Work

The next few days will be spent working on vital projects in the local community. The project work will vary depending on the needs of the community at that time. Evenings will be spent resting in hammocks under the stars, enjoying a home cooked dinner and reflecting on the day’s activities.

day 06

Travel to Entebbe via Jinja

Today, the group will say goodbye to Hairy Lemon Island and transfer to Entebbe. On the way, there will be a stop off at a local African town called Jinja to buy souvenirs and try local delicacies. Carry on to camp in Entebbe for a well-deserved rest and an evening at your leisure after dinner.

day 07

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Today is a fun day out in Lake Victoria - where the group will take a motorised canoe and travel to Ngamba Island. Here, the group will learn about man’s closest relative - the chimpanzee and learn about their rehabilitation back into the wild. In the afternoon, head to the viewing platform to watch feeding time before heading back by boat to Entebbe for your final evening in Uganda.

Transfer to Airport & Depart

After breakfast, the team will head to the airport to catch their departure flight.
