Learn about life in the mountains of Oman both above and below ground! Trek in search of hidden villages and have lunch with a local family, find the best spot for watching the sunset at an elevation of 2,000m, and explore the fascinating geology of Oman on a tour in the Middle East’s only show cave, and with a short exploratory mission to the cave’s entrance.

The varied nature of this itinerary means all students will get their time to shine and develop leadership and teamwork skills.

This adventure is most suitable for students aged 9-13, but itineraries can be amended for older students. Alternatives to camping are available for students who will get more out of the experience with more of the comforts of home.

Day to Day

Day 01

Transfer & Trek

Take the journey to the top of Sharaf Alamayn at an elevation of 1,900m. Set up camp and get settled in with a short trek to the top of the ridgeline behind the resort.

Day 02

Cave Explorers

Take the 30 minute journey down to Al Hoota show cave, the only show came in the Middle East. Go back in time millions of years on a guided tour of the limestone formations and find the blind cave fish living in the first pool. After lunch, go to Al Hoota village, 5km uphill of the show cave, where we will abseil into the wadi where the cave begins. After exploring the cave's entrance, we will climb back out of the wadi ready to return to camp.

Day 03

Survival 101

Navigation - get back to basics learning how to navigate with a map and compas. Success on a treasure hunt is vital to collect everything needed for this afternoon's challenge! Fire lighting - Under the close supervision of the twenty3 extreme team, collect wood, light a fire and prepare and cook your own bread; guaranteed to taste better than from any restaurant!

Day 04

Bilad Sayt

An exciting 4x4 journey down the graded road into Wadi Bani Auf kickstarts today's adventure. Park up and trek in through a narrow gorge into the hidden oasis village of Bilad Sayt. Explore the ancient falaj irrigation system and have lunch with a local family before trekking back through another section of the gorge back to the vehicles.

Day 05

Departure

Pack up camp and return to Muscat ready for your departure. Time allowing, we will stop along the way at Nizwa to explore the fort and souq.
